2024 Green Marine Green Tech Conference: A Focus on Underwater Noise

July 3, 2024

The 2024 Green Marine Green Tech conference held from June 5-7 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, was a great event with forward-thinking solutions, and an inspiring commitment to the sustainability of ports and shipping. This year, one of the standout topics was underwater noise—a subject that is crucial for the health of our marine ecosystems and a key area of interest for Ocean Sonics.

Underwater Noise: A Key Topic of Discussion

We were thrilled to see underwater noise take center stage at the conference. The issue of anthropogenic noise and its impact on marine life has long been what’s driven the Ocean Sonics work. It was heartening to see this critical issue being addressed with the urgency and attention it deserves. Experts from around the world shared their latest research findings, technological advancements, and policy recommendations aimed at mitigating underwater noise pollution.

Ocean Sonics: Proud Exhibitor

As an exhibitor at the conference, Ocean Sonics had the opportunity to showcase our latest products and solutions designed to monitor and mitigate underwater noise. Our booth was very active as we demonstrated the capabilities of our leading-edge technology, which enables precise and reliable underwater acoustic monitoring.

We had the pleasure of engaging with a diverse array of attendees, including researchers, environmental advocates, and industry professionals. It was particularly exciting to connect with representatives from various ports who are keen to address their underwater noise project goals. Ports have historically overlooked the impact of underwater noise of activity, as regulations surrounding the issue have lagged.

Connecting with Ports: Meeting Project Goals

Our conversations with port authorities were incredibly productive. We discussed their unique challenges and needs in managing underwater noise. Many ports are looking to enhance their environmental stewardship by implementing comprehensive noise monitoring and mitigation strategies. At Ocean Sonics, we understand the complexities involved in these projects and are committed to providing tailored solutions that meet the specific needs of each port.

Our interactions at the conference highlighted a growing awareness and willingness among ports to tackle underwater noise issues head-on. We shared insights on how our products can help them achieve their environmental goals, from real-time noise monitoring to detailed acoustic data analysis. By collaborating with these ports, we aim to contribute to quieter, healthier marine environments.

Looking Ahead

The 2024 Green Marine Green Tech conference was not just an event but a convergence of ideas, expertise, and shared purpose. The focus on underwater noise was particularly significant for Ocean Sonics, reaffirming our dedication to this crucial environmental issue. We left the conference energized and inspired by the progress being made and the collaborative spirit of the participants.

As we look ahead, we are excited to continue working with ports and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective underwater noise management strategies. Together, we can make significant strides in protecting our marine ecosystems and ensuring a sustainable future for our oceans.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, engaged in meaningful conversations, and shared their insights. We look forward to the next Green Marine Green Tech conference and continuing our journey in giving our oceans a voice.
