Collecting ocean sound data has never been easier with the Coastal Acoustic Drifting Buoy. Designed with the user in mind, the buoy weighs in at 23KG and measures 1 meter in length and 0.5 meters in width and is easily deployed by a singular user without the use of a crane or any additional equipment. Features include Wi-Fi for real-time set-up, status and spectral display, remote WIFI access (up to 100m), GPS time sync, on/off switch for icListens and buoy, and hydrophone synchronization within one microsecond.
Designed to be acoustically quiet, this buoy has the ability to drift and collect data or to be moored. While drifting the buoy reduces flow noise to improve quality and clarity. With configuration for up to 6 hydrophones or other Ethernet devices, this buoy integrates easily into any project.

The Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI) Regional Scaled Nodes (RSN) had requirements for very broadband hydrophones with good noise floor characteristics and a wide dynamic range. The icListen HF hydrophones satisfied these requirements at a reasonable cost. The hydrophones were quite easy to use out of the box, and easily passed our intensive First Article tests centered on assuring any instrument will not interfere with or corrode any other instrument. Customer support has been quite good, with very detailed questions answered quickly and accurately.
